What are the strengths and weaknesses of the Google Site? Strengths: Great questions for the teachers to answer in the activity. I like how you included the data about how many kids felt cyberbullied, and the list of things parents can look for (maybe a checklist?). I like how you listed your resources. Weaknesses I am not sure where you got your information for the introduction. Is that from one of your references? You may want to try to organize your left toolbar in the order you want them to use it. I realize that Google Sites does not make that easy to do, as I had the same issue.
What questions, concerns, or comments do you have about this topic? Did you find any information on how to consistently identify cyberbullying using data? It seems as if it is such a subjective topic, and many districts don’t have specifics in policy. Many seem to have a blanket, “cyberbullying” label with nothing else.
Great job, Joe! I liked the activity questions and the background information on cyberbullying. The additional resources page would be very helpful. I would change the order of your pages so the background info comes before the activity, etc. If you want help with that (because it took me FOREVER to get it to move) I would gladly help you!!!
QUESTIONS, CONCERNS Maybe you could have teachers develop a anti-bullying activity for their class as part of their activity? I know when I go to workshops, I like to leave with something I can use in my lessons.
@Tiffany, yes the ordering of the pages was extremely frustrating. Whats the trick to get them in order? My computer almost went through the wall when I couldn't get in the correct order! haha
What are the strengths and weaknesses of the Google Site? The definition and introduction page offers the necessary information a participant who does not know much about this topic would require. Additionally, your survey questions would provide a strong amount of feedback to evaluate your PD. After reading your evaluation, I feel like revising my own evaluation method in order to receive more articulate feedback. I would reorder the pages to provide more easy of access and continuity.
What questions, concerns, or comments do you have about this topic? Have you thought about giving the participants specific platform on which to find an article, such NYTimes.com, etc?
Strengths • Very informational and organized • Great overall presentation to inform us on the topic and activities
Weaknesses • Maybe add some more visuals/signs teachers can hang up in their classrooms and school hallways about anti bullying and anti cyberbullying
Suggestions • We often have many discussions and assemblies for the students about bullying and cyberbullying at my school. However, I believe schools need to also concentrate on the third victim, which is the bystander! • Maybe teachers could create a list of the ways they could handle cyberbullying within the classroom, anti-bullying activities to conduct in their classroom, and create signs to hang up in their rooms
STRENGTHS: I like that the activity requires critical thinking skills of the teachers to determine the validity and strength of the articles they read about cyberbullying. Your additional resources are from sources that will provide authentic information for teachers, parents, and students. Great pictures for a difficult topic to find pictures on! Your information was easy to read and well organized.
WEAKNESSES: in "Cyberbullying in Context", it might be nice to break down your text into bullet points when talking about tips for parents and teachers to draw attention to them. You could consider some aspect of collaboration for teachers in the PD activity maybe.
Comments: I think it would be nice if the body text was a little bigger in comparison to your titles and subtitles. It might also be a good idea to take the comments section away if people are not able to comment.
Strengths: The activity really gets teachers to think about bullying/anti-bullying in their school and ways to apply the information in their own classroom.
Weaknesses: There were a couple typo's in the "Activity" section, but those are easily fixable.
Comments: Have you experienced any type of cyberbullying situation in your own classroom? I've not yet been faced with this issue and I'd like to be prepared for if/when it arises.
